Overview
What began as two annual food drives evolved into a comprehensive, multi-channel charitable giving program, planned and executed in coordination with store teams and cross-functional partners across 50+ grocery stores. Recognizing an opportunity to deepen community impact, I expanded Fresh Encounter's giving initiatives beyond traditional food collection to encompass mental health awareness and broader nonprofit partnerships. The program centered around two anchor food drives: a Back-to-School Food Drive each August and a Holiday Food Drive running from November through December. Both drives leveraged in-store donation campaigns to engage customers directly at the point of purchase, coordinated across store managers and staff at each location. To amplify corporate giving, I integrated Fresh Encounter's annual company golf outing as an additional fundraising vehicle, securing participation from a number of corporate partners and vendors. I established relationships with local food banks operating under the Feeding America umbrella as well as with local mental health organizations, aligning Fresh Encounter's charitable identity with causes that resonated with both the company's values and its customer base. These efforts culminated in a coordinated Giving Tuesday campaign that unified all channels into a single high-impact giving moment. Through strategic expansion of the program across multiple channels and nonprofit partners, total donations grew by 64%, reflecting the impact of intentional community investment and coordinated in-store execution.
